How to Study the Bible Intentionally - Reuben A.Torrey

Goes directly to the point. He explained very well all the methods, and we also have examples of how you can apply those methods. I found some examples really long. He gives the advantages and disadvantages of each one.

I'm not sure if I would recommend this book to someone that is just starting to study the bible because it can be a bit suffocating due to the big amount of examples, but each person is different and this is great resource that I would definitely save for future references.

Un corto y excelente libro acerca de la feminidad bíblica. Nos recuerda que como mujeres nuestra sexualidad es importante y que el hecho de que seamos mujeres no es casualidad, fuimos diseñadas por nuestro creador y eso es hermoso. Habla sobre la importancia de una educación sexual sana y saludable, de como la unión matrimorial nos recuerda como lucirá nuestra unión con Cristo en la eternidad y muchas otras cosas más con consejos útiles incluidos!!. Excelente 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tengo muchas cosas que decir con respecto a este libro, porque primero le iba a poner 3 estrellas pero al final cambió mi perspectiva.

Cosas que me hicieron querer dejarlo o ponerle 3 o 2 estrellas.

1. Creía que el libro original estaba en inglés, porque la traducción está incomoda en los primeros capítulos, y luego confirmé que era así.
2. En el 2do capitulo dice que la biblia se defiende sola, y es cierto, pero creo que no sería una excusa para no aprender a responder cuando te pregunten si la misma es verdadera. Es como una respuesta muy vaga.
3. Lo siento muy desorganizado (más adelante descubrí que su biografía dice eso de él), como muchas historias, muchas ideas sin ninguna conclusión???
4. A veces quiere como decir que nuestra fe no es razonable o eso se da a entender.
5. DEMASIADAS HISTORIAS CORTAS, y salta a otra y después a otra y asi sucesivamente. Sus historias son como: "una vez un hombre hizo tal tal y tal" pero uno no sabe si eso fue necesariamente verdad y tampoco se sabe de donde sacó eso, no parecen reales, las hace parecer reales, pero creo que fue un recurso demasiado explotado.

Despues del capítulo 5 es donde el libro verdaderamente empezó para mí. Se puede decir que da muchos recursos (poco organizados) sobre como estudiar la biblia pero dejo de ser canson, porque empezó a disminuir la cantidad historias y la traducción mejoró muchísimo. Pero para mi sorpresa en el capítulo final hace un excelente resumen de todos los consejos para estudiar la biblia (aunque sigo pensando que es más un libro reflexivo). Por eso cambié mi opinión al respecto y me terminó gustando.

Hay gente que me dice que no tiene nada que decir. Porque la boca habla de lo que llena el corazón (Mateo 12:34). Llénate de la Escritura, y entonces no podrás evitar decirlo. Se dice por sí misma.

 

Algunas personas no tienen problema en hablar de deportes, pero no pueden hablar mucho de las Escrituras. Eso te dice lo que hay en sus corazones.

 

Marca tu Biblia, y en lugar de que sea seca y sin interés, se convertirá en un libro hermoso para ti.

How to Study the Bible - Dwight. L. Moody

I have a lot of things to say about this book because initially, I was going to give it 3 stars, but in the end, my perspective changed.

Things that made me want to leave it or give it 3 or 2 stars.

1. I thought the original book was in English because the translation is awkward in the first chapters, and later, I confirmed that it was indeed the case. 
2. In the second chapter, it says that the Bible defends itself, and it's true, but I think it wouldn't be an excuse not to learn how to respond when asked if it is true. It's like a very vague response.
3. It feels very disorganized (later I discovered that his biography says that about him), like many stories, many ideas without any conclusion??? 
4. Sometimes it seems to imply that our faith is not reasonable. 
5. TOO MANY SHORT STORIES, jumping from one to another, and so on. His stories are like: "once a man did such and such," but you don't know if that was necessarily true, and you don't know where he got that from. They don't seem real; he makes them seem real, but I think it was an overused resource. 

After chapter 5 is where the book truly began for me. It can be said that it gives many resources (poorly organized) on how to study the Bible, but it stopped being tiresome because the number of stories decreased, and the translation improved a lot. But to my surprise, in the final chapter, he makes an excellent summary of all the advice for studying the Bible (although I still think it's more of a reflective book). That's why I changed my opinion about it, and I ended up liking it.

Some favorite phrases:

There are people who tell me they have nothing to say. Because the mouth speaks what the heart is full of (Matthew 12:34). Fill yourself with Scripture, and then you won't be able to help but speak it. It speaks for itself.

 

Some people have no problem talking about sports, but they can't say much about the Scriptures. That tells you what's in their hearts.

 

Mark your Bible, and instead of it being dry and uninteresting, it will become a beautiful book for you.
